My wife brings more clarity to eminent baldness

Bev has met her goal of $1,000 donated to fighting cancer at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin thanks to the generous giving of many of you. Don't let that stop you from giving though. If you still want to donate you will find links below and HERE. Here is Bev's latest journal entry on CaringBridge:

Details
So many of you have inquired as to when or assumed that my hair is already gone that I think I need to clarify....

To all of you who have sponsored my soon to be shiny head, I will make good on my part on September 24 at the actual fundraising event.

Here is more info on the event off the website:
The highlight will be three activities that tie into the purpose of this fundraiser:
1. Head shaving – participants will collect pledges and then have their head shaved on the day of the event in support of children who have undergone treatment for cancer.
2. A blood drive – hosted by the BloodCenter of Wisconsin to collect much needed blood for various health care purposes and childhood blood disorders.
3. A bone marrow registry drive – also hosted by the BloodCenter of Wisconsin to raise awareness to the need for marrow donors to help children with various diseases.

Additionally, we will have
• music and other entertainment (such as clowns, Irish Dancers, karate demos, the Mad Scientist a dunk tank and anything else we can come up with)
• Food and Drinks (non-alchoholic)
• Games
• Artwork from current and past patients treated for cancer and other blood disorders
• Raffle/auction – which will include the patient artwork among other donations
• Plus the event will be open to members of the public, without admission charge, so anyone is welcome to join the fun and excitement!

This year's event will take place from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at:
Regner Park
800 N. Main Street
West Bend, WI 53090

If you go to the website:

You will see that I am the current TOP fundraiser for the event!!! I believe this says less about me or Oliver and much more about our God and how He instills mercy and compassion upon the hearts of His beloved.

By the way, I plan to be sporting a newly designed T-SHIRT with the Lockes' winning acronym from way back at the event:
Can
Anything
Negate
Christ's
Eternal
Redemption?

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:38-39)

I'm hoping this might serve a different kind of raising other than funds...a raising up of the reason for the hope and assurance we have in Christ.

I would LOVE for anyone/everyone to come see me go bald in 30 seconds or less :) THANK YOU to everyone who has responded to this specific call to care for the sick. We are so blessed by your generosity and faith.

Bev

p.s. Oliver is handling his chemo treatments relatively well this phase and still managing to have lots of summer fun. It is all more than we deserve.
